Dear Painting Students:

You are invited to participate in Art Camp: A free life drawing and painting workshop this summer.

Download a PDF with this information

Who?     Professional Artists, Graduate Students & Undergraduate Students.

•    Some of the pros will likely include Daniel Ludwig, Gaela Erwin, Emil Robinson, Rick Bennett, & Cole Carothers.

•    Centre Students who have take ARS 210 or higher are invited.

•    Previously we also had a few students from other colleges, including Grinnell, Oberlin and RISD.

What?  Drawing & Painting from life

•    no instruction provided

•    no fees for the models (free!)

•    Three hour session in the morning, three hour session in the afternoon

•    Long poses available—6 to 12 hours is common.

•    Lots of models, small groups of artists—it is easy to get a good easel position

•    Getting to know other other artists and see their work

•    an opening night dinner for the group & informal lunches with participants

•    joining a group of artists of diverse experience, some of whom have impressive professional careers behind them, or ahead of them.....

Where?  Centre College Art Barn

When?

•    Arrival: Friday, May 29, late afternoon. Opening dinner at 6:00 pm.

•    Life Sessions: 9:00a-Noon & 1:30p-4:30p Saturday-Monday. Last session is Tuesday, 9:00a-Noon. Total of seven three-hour sessions.

•    Departure: After closing lunch on Tuesday, June 2.

How Much?

•    No cost for the workshop or the models.

•    Cheap accommodation on campus will cost $20/night. Reserve soon; places limited. Other options: get a hotel room in town, or stay with a friend.

•    Meals on your own.

What to Do Now?

If you are interested, let me know as soon as possible, even if you can't be sure of committing. We can’t take more than 25 people in the workshop, and I only have 12 rooms available in campus housings. Don’t delay.

This will be the third Art Camp (founded 2006). In the previous rounds we had fun and made a lot of great work. Hope you can come.

All the best,

Sheldon
